Aston Villa is pleased to announce the appointment of Craig Shakespeare as the club’s new Assistant Head Coach.
Craig has served in both assistant manager and manager roles for nearly 20 years at Premier League and Championship level accumulating a wealth of experience in over 500 games.
The 56-year-old was assistant to Claudio Ranieri when Leicester City won the Premier League in 2016 before going on to take the reins at the King Power Stadium. He was also briefly assistant manager to Sam Allardyce with the senior England men’s team.
Dean Smith said: “I was keen to add some additional Premier League know-how onto my coaching team and Craig certainly has that in abundance.
“He’s a vastly experienced coach who will add another dimension to our team. I've known Craig for many years since our Walsall playing days and I’m really looking forward to working with him.”
