Aston Villa continued their preparations ahead of the 2020/21 Premier League campaign by facing Wycombe Wanderers in a behind-closed-doors friendly on Saturday.
Dean Smith’s squad got some minutes under their belt against Bristol City earlier this week with two 60-minute matches, with striker Ally Samatta on target.
It was back to a more familiar format against Gareth Ainsworth’s newly-promoted Championship side with 90 minutes of football and valuable match fitness gained for both sides.
Villa led 3-1 at half-time before going on to complete a 5-2 victory, with Anwar El Ghazi’s brace and Orjan Nyland’s second half penalty save proving decisive.
Samatta added to his strike against the Robins with another goal, while Ezri Konsa and Trezeguet were also on target.
