Manzambi on target as Emery brings up century

In-form Aston Villa extended their impressive run of results courtesy of Saturday’s 1-0 victory at Newcastle United.

Unai Emery’s side are now unbeaten in five matches in all competitions, winning four of those, and have only lost one of their previous eight.

Johan Manzambi’s first-half header settled the encounter in the north east, the summer signing netting his third goal in four games.

Having also triumphed in last season’s corresponding fixture, it was the first time the Villans have won back-to-back league matches at St James’ Park since the late 1950s.

In doing so, Villa boss Emery earned his 100th Premier League win, in his 197th game in the competition, with only eight managers have reached the milestone in fewer games in the competition’s history.
