Jackson lauds ‘amazing’ St James' Park triumph

Nicolas Jackson praised an “amazing” win on the road, as Aston Villa secured three points with a 1-0 triumph at Newcastle United on Saturday.

Unai Emery’s men dug deep, having taken the lead through Johan Manzambi in the first half, to see out a fourth successive away win in all competitions

Jackson, who was named Man of the Match, was delighted with the outcome at St James’ Park.

“Very good, amazing,” he told VillaTV.

“We’re very happy to win here. We know it’s a very difficult place to come and win.

“The most important, we won, and then we just try to keep going forward with more wins.

“It’s a very difficult stadium to win (at) and we know we had to defend.

“We did so, and we were very happy to do it, and finally we got the three points. That was the most important for us today.”

While the result was rightly pleasing, the performance was also a major positive for Villa, adding to their recent momentum.

The visitors cut the hosts open with swift counter-attacks, particularly in the first half, showcasing the growing chemistry between the players.

Jackson said: “I came with a lot of new players and we’re still trying to learn each other.

“We have an amazing coach leading us so we are very happy together and hopefully we go forward and win more games.”
