Viljami Sinisalo arrived at Villa Park in the summer of 2018 after completing a move from his hometown club FC Espoo. The Finnish stopper began his career at FC Honka before moving to Espoo, making his senior debut aged 15 in the third division of Finnish football.

The 2020/21 season saw Sinisalo head out on loan to Scottish Championship club Ayr United, where he made 29 appearances across three domestic competitions. In July 2022, Sinisalo headed out on loan once again, this time joining League One side Burton Albion. He returned to Villa in January 2023 after making eight appearances for the Brewers.

The young ‘keeper has also represented Finland at U16s, U17s, U18s, U19s and U21s, winning his first cap for the latter in November 2020. Sinisalo was called up to the senior squad for the first time in September 2022.
