Sam Johnstone says he’s “really enjoyed” his time with Villa.
Johnstone arrived here in January 2017 and has really impressed over the past few months.
The 24-year-old now returns to Man Utd but has stressed how much he’s enjoyed being in B6.
Talking to the News & Record matchday programme, he said: “I’ve really enjoyed it.
“It has been a bit frustrating at times – when I first arrived it was difficult because we weren’t getting the results but there were also a lot of new players coming into the team and it took a bit of time to settle.
“But I worked hard away from the games on the training pitch doing extra work, extra gym sessions and yoga too.
“Then things started to turn around and get results so I’ve really enjoyed it.
“Everyone says it – but Villa truly is a massive club.”
Steve Bruce, meanwhile, has revealed he’s set to meet Jose Mourinho this week to discuss the future of the goalkeeper.
Bruce is a big admirer and will try to come to an agreement for Johnstone to return next term.
He said: “I have had a conversation with Jose on the telephone and I will now be going to see him.
“We hope there is good news there.”
