Jack Grealish says the Aston Villa squad believe they have what it takes to stay in the Premier League.

The team resume the season on 17 June against Sheffield United, with ten games remaining as they try to pull themselves out of the relegation zone.

According to the club captain, the squad have returned to training looking sharp and united in their desire to improve.

He said: “There’s so much belief [that we can stay up]. I was only speaking to the manager yesterday about how good we’re looking as a team in training, fitness-wise and with the ball.

“We could only start contact training this week, but since we have, we’ve tried to work on stuff that we need to improve on.

“I know there was quite a lot of stuff we could improve on. The break came at a good time for us as we weren’t having a good set of results before the break.

“We’ve had time to reflect on stuff, we’ve been working hard and hopefully we’ll come back raring to go. I know that I will.”

With games behind closed doors, Grealish and his teammates won’t be able to gain any advantage from the support they would usually receive at a packed Villa Park.

But the 24-year-old is comfortable with the situation and believes he’ll be able to treat the matches in the same way he ordinarily would.

“It’s going to be tough but it’s something that we’ve got to deal with,” he said.

“Villa Park has that kind of atmosphere when it can pull you through and you can grind out a result. I won’t see it any different.

“I love playing at Villa Park in front of fans, but to me I train every day in front of no fans, so I’ll just try and see it as a normal game because deep down I know there will be millions of people watching around the world on TV.”
