Dean Smith will be looking for a performance full of belief and confidence when Aston Villa face West Ham United at the London Stadium on Sunday.

Villa are unbeaten in three and go into the clash just above the relegation zone, following their impressive victory over Arsenal on Tuesday.

Speaking the media on Friday, Smith made it clear that his team will go all-out to take all three points against David Moyes’ side.

He said: “We know what we have to do.

“The mindset is to play with the same belief and confidence that we have for the past few weeks.

“It’s been tough, but I love a scrap and the players have bought into that.

“The most important thing is to be above that dotted line on Sunday and we know what we need a win to guarantee that.”

West Ham secured their safety with a 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford earlier in the week and the Villa boss praised the work that Moyes has done since his appointment.

Smith added: “David has gone in and done a fantastic job, so we have to show the commitment and personality that we have in the previous games.

“I’ve learnt that they are a resilient bunch, there are times when they have been tired and we’ve asked them for another push, and they’ve gone and done it.”
