John Terry was delighted with both the result and the performance as Aston Villa saw off Bristol City 3-0 at Ashton Gate.
Two goals in three minutes from Anwar El Ghazi and debutant Bertrand Traore, a stunning volley, put Villa into a commanding early lead.
Ollie Watkins then put the gloss on a commanding victory when he slotted home his second goal of the season in the 73rd minute.
It secures Villa’s place in Round Four of the Carabao Cup and ensures they have won their opening three matches of the campaign in all competitions.
Speaking to VillaTV post-match, assistant head coach Terry said: “The result to put us in the hat for the next round is excellent.
“And the individual performances, and collectively.
"And it was an opportunity for players to go and get minutes as well, which is important.
"Also give the manager food for thought. Everyone competing for places.
“It was excellent all round.”
