Bertrand Traoré was delighted to mark his debut with a goal and help Aston Villa into Round Four of the Carabao Cup.

Championship side Bristol City were swept aside 3-0 at Ashton Gate on Thursday night, with Anwar El Ghazi, Traoré and Ollie Watkins on target.

Traoré scored the pick of the goals with a delightful volley and when he joined VillaTV following the full-time whistle, he was thrilled.

He said: “I’m very happy to score on my debut.

“We won, we are through to the next round, so I’m very happy.

“I just decided that when I got the ball I wanted to put it in [with] one touch, I was a bit lucky but you have to try.

“If you don’t try, it is never a goal."
