Aston Villa's Under-23s were beaten 2-1 by Leeds United at Bodymoor Heath on Friday night.
Sam Greenwood and Jack Jenkins got the goals to secure promotion to Premier League 2 - Division 1 for the visitors, with Jed Steer's first-half penalty save and Aaron Ramsey's late free-kick ultimately in vain.
Wesley completed just over an hour as he continues his journey towards full match fitness, while Steer, Björn Engels and Kortney Hause all played the full 90 minutes.

Leeds' opening goal came inside the first four minutes, with Greenwood bending a free-kick over the Villa wall and past Steer.
Just three minutes later, Joseph Gelhardt had a golden chance to double the advantage after he was brought down in the area by Hause, but Steer made the save before recovering brilliantly to keep out the rebound.
Ramsey has been in stunning form in the PL2 and the FA Youth Cup in recent weeks and he saw a left-footed effort saved on the quarter-hour mark.
Chances were few and far between during the rest of the first half, but Steer produced another save from Gelhardt before the break.

Greenwood continued to cause problems in the second half and his shot across the face of goal almost presented an opportunity, but substitute Liam McCarron couldn't apply the finishing touch at the back post.
Ramsey looked most dangerous for the home side and he almost produced a moment of real quality to equalise just before the hour, dribbling from his own half before shooting just wide of the post.
Leeds extended their advantage two minutes later, with Jenkins tapping home after an initial shot was kept out.
Mark Delaney's side fought hard to try and find a way back into the game and Leeds were reduced to 10 men after Charlie Cresswell received a second yellow card for a foul on Jaden Philogene-Bidace just outside the area.
With just over five minutes to go, Ramsey finally got his goal with a beautifully struck free-kick, but the visitors held on to get the result that they needed to secure the title.
