Danny Ings brought a packed Villa Park to their feet with a stunning goal to set Aston Villa on their way to a win against Newcastle United.
The striker produced a moment of magic in first half stoppage time, sending an overhead kick past the ‘keeper to give the hosts the lead.
VAR intervened in Villa’s favour in the second half as they were awarded a penalty, with Anwar El Ghazi making no mistake from the spot.
The visitors offered little in attack, but they were aggrieved when a penalty of their own was overturned for an offside in the build-up to an attack which saw Emiliano Martinez foul Callum Wilson.
It was a rare moment of worry for the Villa defence as they picked up a first Premier League win of the season.

Douglas Luiz made a welcome return to the starting XI after returning from the Olympics, with Jacob Ramsey also selected after a lively cameo against Watford.
Both sides lost their league opener last weekend, and it was the visitors who made the brighter start, with Wilson putting an effort wide when through on goal.
Matty Cash made a crucial early interception as the hosts fought to stay on terms before they got into their stride going forward.

Villa started the second half in control and when Ezri Konsa headed a free-kick into the path of Mings, the captain’s goalbound header was blocked by Jamaal Lascelles' outstretched arm.
The referee played on before VAR intervened, with David Coote changing his decision after seeing it again on the pitchside monitor.
El Ghazi stepped up, coolly sending Woodman the wrong way to double the lead after 62 minutes.
Newcastle were struggling to create any opportunities, but they were awarded a spot kick of their own when Martinez wiped out Wilson as the striker chased a through ball.
VAR came to Villa’s rescue once again, spotting an offside in the build-up and overturning the penalty.
