Carney Chukwuemeka was handed his first Premier League start for Aston Villa’s clash against Brentford (ko 3pm).

The talented teenager, who twice appeared off the bench in the league last season, started Tuesday’s 6-0 victory at Barrow in the Carabao Cup.  

Captain Tyrone Mings missed the encounter against the Bees due to injury, with Axel Tuanzebe starting alongside former Brentford defender Ezri Konsa, who wore the captain’s armband at Villa Park.

Matt Targett also returned to Dean Smith’s starting XI, with fit-again Ollie Watkins named among the substitutes against his former club alongside Cameron Archer, who bagged a hat-trick in midweek.

John McGinn and Jacob Ramsey are currently following government guidelines with regards to Covid-19.
