Tyrone Mings has been named as Aston Villa’s new captain.
The centre-back will wear the captain’s armband on Saturday against Watford as Villa open their 2021/22 campaign at Vicarage Road, with midfielder John McGinn named vice-captain.
England international Mings was part of a Villa defence which equalled a club-record 15 Premier League clean sheets last season before helping the Three Lions reach the Euro 2020 final over the summer.
