Louie Barry completed his hat-trick in stoppage time as he inspired Aston Villa Under-23s to victory against Norwich City in Premier League 2 on Friday night.

The young striker handed the visiting Villans the lead from the penalty spot after 12 minutes, only to see Norwich turn the game on its head either side of half-time through Matthew Dennis and Nelson Khumbeni.

But the Young Lions hit back when Barry netted his second spot kick of the evening before he took advantage of some slack defending to win the game in injury time.

The result moves Villa level on points with second place Wolves ahead of their next game against Reading on January 29.

After his goalscoring heroics on first team debut in the FA Cup against Liverpool earlier this month, Barry has continued to find the net for the U23s.

The young striker notched a penalty against West Bromwich Albion last time out and he was successful from the spot once again to give Villa the lead.

With 12 minutes on the clock, Barry was shoved in the box and he duly picked himself up to coolly dispatch the penalty.

Villa were enjoying the majority of possession and they were using it to good effect, creating chances to extend their lead through Myles Sohna and Charlie Farr.

But the Young Lions were ultimately punished for their failure to add to their advantage when Dennis poked home from inside the box to level the scores after 34 minutes.

It remained 1-1 at half-time, but the hosts started the second half brightly and took the lead when Khumbeni controlled a loose ball and fired home through a crowded penalty area after 54 minutes.

The Canaries’ lead last all of three minutes, however, as Jordan Thomas was penalised for a foul, allowing Barry to score his second of the night.

Akos Onodi then made a save to deny Dennis his brace before late drama unfolded as the game moved into stoppage time.

The ever-lively Barry capitalised on a Norwich error to complete his hat-trick and snatch all three points for Villa.
