Aston Villa’s 1981 First Division and 1982 European Cup-winning heroes will be hosting a meet and greet book signing session for supporters at Villa Park.
Members of the club’s victorious side of the early ‘80s – Dennis Mortimer, Gordon Cowans, Tony Morley, Nigel Spink and Des Bremner - will be in the Holte Suite Foyer from 12noon ahead of the club’s Premier League clash against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday, November 20 (ko 3pm).*
This is your opportunity to meet some of the legends from Villa’s title success and memorable night in Rotterdam as we continue to celebrate the 40th anniversary of our most famous triumph.
The quintet will be signing copies of the 80-page AV40 40th anniversary First Division Champions tribute publication.
The event marks the start of the AV40 Champions on Tour!

Forty years ago, Villa were crowned Football League champions for the first time in 71 years as the club celebrated First Division title success on May 2, 1981.
The following season, with virtually the same small squad of players, Villa defied all the odds to win the European Cup, securing a famous 1-0 victory over Bayern Munich at De Kuip Stadium in Rotterdam on May 26, 1982.
To celebrate these two remarkable achievements etched forever in the club’s history, AV40 have launched a series of ‘Champions on Tour’ events where fans can meet the players, ask questions, take photographs and share happy memories with Villa’s historic squad.
Following the meet and greet signing session at Villa Park, the next leg of the tour sees events in Stourbridge on Monday, December 6 and Monday, December 13.

Supporters are able to get more information about AV40 and purchase anniversary memorabilia via the below link.

The events continue to mark the club’s 40th anniversary celebrations, with fans also able to share a Villa Park tour with our 1982 legends and plenty more to come.
BT Sport is producing a documentary, Super Villans, that will include contributions from captain Mortimer and many Villa team-mates during those two memorable seasons.
