Matt Targett says there’s more to come from Aston Villa as the team prepare for Saturday’s derby against Wolves at Villa Park.

After seven Premier League games, the Villans sit 10th in the table with three wins, one draw and three defeats.

And Targett believes the team are yet to hit the heights they’re capable of.

He said: “I think it’s been steady. There have been some good performances and some bad ones, so it’s about finding that consistency.

“We’re in a steady position, but I think we can give so much more.”

He added: “We’ve signed some top, top players and, at the moment, we haven’t got them all on the pitch at the same time.

“Once they’re all back fit, I’m sure we’ll go to the next level.”

Heading into this weekend’s game, Wolves sit two places and one point below Villa in the table as they adjust to life under new manager Bruno Lage.

Aston Villa take on Manchester United in the Premier League.

Wanderers’ form has picked up after a slow start and they arrive at B6 on the back of three wins in four games, with Targett fully aware they will be a challenging opponent on Saturday.

“I remember last season it was a tough game. It was a real battle, especially at their place when we nicked it. It was a tough game with a lot of yellow cards,” he said.

“It’s going to be a difficult game, but we’re looking forward to having a packed Villa Park for it.

“Once you get that place rocking, it can’t be nice for any teams coming there. It’s such a great, great advantage for us to have.”
