Aston Villa got their European Cup campaign off to a winning start with an emphatic 5-0 victory against Valur on this day in 1981. 

Tony Morley got the scoring started against the Icelandic amateurs as the hosts ran away with the first-round first-leg tie at Villa Park. 

Peter Withe headed home a second before Terry Donovan scored his first of the night. 

In the second half, both Withe and Donovan struck again as Villa took a big lead into the return leg in Reykjavík.
