Danny Ings believes Aston Villa have given themselves a platform to build upon heading into September’s fixtures.
Villa have taken four points from their opening three Premier League matches, bouncing back from defeat at Watford on the opening day to see off Newcastle United and draw against Brentford.
And, ahead of this weekend’s return to action after the international period, Ings feels Villa have a springboard to kick on.
Speaking to VillaTV, he said: “I think we’ve done okay, I think there’s been a lot of situations that’s made it a little bit more difficult for us; players being out and things like that.
“But overall, I think we would be pretty satisfied with our start.
“Of course, it can always be better but we’ve got something to build on.
“And I think that’s the most important thing going into the next games.”

The summer signing has netted twice and claimed one assist in his opening three games for the club, including his stunning overhead kick against the Magpies.
And Ings is delighted to have got off to a flying start in claret and blue.
“It’s huge and that’s what I’ve always wanted, really,” he added.
“As soon as I go into any club, it’s to hit the ground running so I’m really happy that I’ve been able to do that here.
“And I’m working each day to make sure that carries on.”
