The journey continues

Sunday, July 31st 2022 will go down in history as an unforgettable day.

England women's national football team became European Champions after beating Germany 2-1 at Wembley Stadium, ending a 56-year trophy drought in the process.

Their journey from the opening game at Old Trafford to the final one in the nation's capital was wholheartedly inspiring, but the hard work began long before the Lionesses crossed the white line this summer.

Women's football has risen meteorically in recent years, and momentum is gathering by the day.

Now it's time to take the baton and continue inspiring millions on a domestic level.

Much like women's football in general, Villa Women's rapid rise goes on.

Having been part of England’s second tier since 2004, we finally achieved promotion to the top flight in 2020.

With that progression came full-time, professional status, and we’ve since consolidated ourselves in the Barclays Women’s Super League.

The club sealed a dramatic final-day survival in 2021 before going on to achieve a one-place improvement during the 2021/22 campaign.

Now, we are looking to kick on once again under Ward's management.

Alongside the exciting prospects of Laura Blindkilde Brown, Olivia McLoughlin and Freya Gregory, marquee signings such as Danielle Turner, Simone Magill and Natasha Harding have arrived in the West Midlands.
