Aston Villa is continuing to reduce the environmental impact of matchdays at Villa Park with the introduction of reusable coffee cups from the start of the 2022/23 season.
The move sees Villa become the first Premier League club to utilise the complete suite of reusable beverage containers following last year’s addition of the ONE Planet ONE Chance Reusable Cup System at the stadium.
These reusable coffee cups are to be used in all kiosks and hospitality across the stadium, therefore totally eliminating any single-use cups - hot or cold - across Villa Park, which would equate to well over 300,000 each season.
Fans will be asked to leave a 10p deposit for each cup, which is refundable on return of the cup or can be donated to Aston Villa Foundation. As an extra incentive for supporters to return their cup, one tree will be planted for every 1,000 cups returned.
The club has again enlisted the support of Event Cup Solutions and their ONE Planet ONE Chance® Reusable Cup System - a fully managed, sustainable reusable cup system which completely offsets the carbon emissions from transporting and washing cups via a UK tree planting project which is supplied by SQSTR.
The ONE coffee cups, which are 100% reusable and recyclable, are insulated, meaning that the contents are kept hot, whilst being cool-to-touch on the outside, making them safe to use. Each coffee cup carries the same, consistent 4 step message as the cold cups, something that Villa fans are now familiar with.

Director of Event Cup Solutions, John Reeves, said “We are delighted that Aston Villa have enhanced their reusable cup offering to fans at Villa Park for the 2022/23 season and beyond.
“Our reusable coffee cups are the natural extension to the successful pints and half pints that were in operation last season. Utilising the ONE Planet ONE Chance Reusable Cup System in this way at Villa Park will result in even more trees being planted in the UK through our carbon-offsetting initiative via tree planting with SQSTR, as well as providing even more valuable funds for the Aston Villa Foundation.”
Harry Simpson of SQSTR said: “Utilising the ONE Planet ONE Chance Reusable Cup System already reduces the carbon involved in supplying cups but, with the aid of SQSTR’s carbon offset platform for businesses and individuals, Event Cup Solutions are able to make any stadium’s cups 100% carbon-neutral.
“Aston Villa should again be congratulated for their progressive outlook on sustainability, and we look forward to working even more closely together this coming season to ensure such a great sporting institution can be sustainably managed.”
Event Cup Solutions provides the most environmentally-sound solution in the market, all of which is managed in-house by an experienced and dedicated team.
“We want to help customers at stadiums, venues and events, and make it easy for them to return their cups,” Reeves continued.
“Our cups are not fan cups or souvenir cups - we want them back to be used time after time. Fans can be confident that when they return their ONE cup into one of the reusable cup bins around the stadium, they are both contributing to the Aston Villa Foundation.
“And remember - for every 1,000 cups returned, we plant a tree so please don’t take your cup home.”
