Jacob Ramsey says Aston Villa go to Selhurst Park on Saturday in a confident mood after notching their first win of the season last weekend.

Following a 2-1 success against Everton at Villa Park, the squad will try and record back-to-back victories when they face Crystal Palace.

Ramsey is prepared for a tough 90 minutes in south London.

He said: “It’s a tough place to go. Palace are confident after getting a draw on Monday night against Liverpool.

“They’ll be full of confidence but so will we. We had a big win on Saturday, so both teams are in good form.

“They’ve got good players, great attacking threats in Wilfried Zaha and Eberechi Eze. We know that we’re going to have to defend strongly and keep possession better.

“It’s going to be a good game between two teams in good form.”

Ramsey has formed part of a midfield trio alongside captain John McGinn and Boubacar Kamara in the first two Premier League games of the campaign.

The latter has settled in seamlessly on the pitch following his summer move from Marseille.

“He’s been really impressive. Even in the training sessions in Australia when he first came you could see how calm he was on the ball and how aggressive he was off the ball,” said Ramsey.

“Each game we play together the connection between me, Kamara, Ginny or whoever is playing in there will continue to get stronger.

“The competition is high but it’s always healthy. Whoever plays in midfield will always do a good job.”

Homegrown starlet Ramsey established himself in the top flight last term, scoring six goals in 34 Premier League appearances.

And the 21-year-old is keen to continue his upward trajectory.

He said: “I need to take my game to another level.

“I’ve got targets to hit, personal targets and team targets as well. We’re two games in and I want to get off to a good start.

“I want to hit the levels from last season and then go above them.”
