Sheffield United are experiencing a tumultous season.

The Blades currently sit third from bottom in the Barclays Women's Championship having won just two of nine league games.

Neil Redfearn has recently departed the club and United are bottom of Group A with two games left to play.

Former Villan, Sophie Haywood, currently plies her trade in Yorkshire but will sadly miss Wednesday's tie having underwent knee surgery in recent days.

The Last Meeting

Villa Women lost 2-1 to Sheffield United in the Conti Cup the last time these two sides met.

In a night where Carla Ward rang the changes and handed debuts to five youngsters, Villa were unlucky not to have come away with more.

Early goals from Kasia Lipka and Courtney Sweetman-Kirk put the Blades into the ascendency, before Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah cut the deficit to one in the second half.

Villa’s young lions put plenty of pressure on their opponents for the remainder, but just couldn’t find a second.
