Aston Villa Women qualified for the knockout stages of the Conti Cup with a 2-1 win over Sheffield United on Wednesday.
First-half goals from Kirsty Hanson and Kenza Dali provided Villa with an insurmountable lead.
Mia Enderby scored from the penalty spot with 10 minutes to go to give the hosts a lifeline, but Villa held on to progress from Group A.
Carla Ward made three changes from the side that were defeated by Manchester United on Saturday.
Anna Leat came in to replace Hannah Hampton between the posts, while Olivia McLoughlin and Kirsty Hanson also started.
Hanson returned to the matchday squad having been unable to face her parent club on Saturday.
It was the Scotland international who registered Villa’s first attempt on goal inside two minutes.
A sharp, interchanging move resulted in Hanson letting fly from distance and the ball whistled past the post of Nina Wilson.
Villa seemed determined to put this tie to bed in the opening exchanges as they continued to pepper the Blades goal.
Kenza Dali, Freya Gregory and Laura Blindkilde Brown all registered attempts in a crazy sequence, with all three efforts blocked from point-blank range.
That would be Gregory’s last involvement as she was forced to hobble off.
Villa would pick up where they left off, however, as they took the lead.
Hanson glanced home a Kenza Dali corner to score her first goal for the club.
Dali added a goal to her individual tally for the evening moments later as she smashed the ball into the top corner to double Villa’s lead and put them in control.
Villa went into the break two goals to the good and looked to add to their lead immediately after the restart.
Dali produced a fierce drive from distance that Wilson was equal to in the Blades goal.
Rachel Daly and Hanson also registered attempts as Villa looked to add some gloss to an already commanding scoreline.
Villa were made to feel like their missed chances may cost them when Enderby slotted home a penalty on 80 minutes.
But Ward's side saw the tie out with relative ease and will wait to find out their quarter-final opponents.
