Emi Martínez scooped the Golden Glove Award as Argentina celebrated winning the 2022 World Cup.

The Aston Villa goalkeeper lifted the most coveted trophy in world football after he helped Argentina triumph over France in a classic encounter in Qatar.

Martínez was integral to victory for La Albiceleste as he played a key role in their 4-2 penalty shoot-out success following a pulsating 3-3 draw after extra-time.

It came after the Villa No.1 made a crucial late save to deny Randal Kolo Muani before the match headed to penalties.

And his heroics saw him scoop the prestigious Golden Glove Award, given to the best goalkeeper of the tournament, having also landed the honour following Argentina's success at the 2021 Copa América.

Emi Martinez.

Martínez has enjoyed a hugely successful World Cup, keeping three clean sheets en route to the final as well as playing a key role in their Round of 16 tie against Australia and quarter-final shoot-out win over the Netherlands.

Martínez has created Aston Villa history by becoming both the club’s first World Cup winner and first player to appear in a World Cup final.

The keeper, who only made his international debut for Argentina in June 2021, has now lifted the Copa América, Finalissima and World Cup in the space of just 18 months.

Congratulations, Emi!
