Emi Martínez celebrated the biggest night of his football career on Sunday as he lifted the World Cup with Argentina.

The Aston Villa No.1 got his hands on the most cherished prize in world football and, with it, picked up the Golden Glove Award for the best goalkeeper of the tournament.

Martínez inspired Argentina to victory against France in an all-time classic final encounter, with La Albiceleste winning 4-2 on penalties after an enthralling 3-3 draw following extra-time.

Martínez created Villa history by becoming both the club’s first World Cup winner and first player to appear in a World Cup final.

The keeper, who only made his international debut for Argentina in June 2021, has now lifted the Copa América, Finalissima and World Cup for his nation.
