Boubacar Kamara is targeting three points when Aston Villa resume their Premier League campaign against Liverpool on Boxing Day.

Attention has switched back to domestic action following the conclusion of the World Cup, with fans set to descend on Villa Park once again for the visit of the Reds.

Kamara says the emphasis will be on Villa to take the game to the visitors in front of a full house in B6.

“It doesn’t matter who we’re playing, we always want to win,” he said.

“We always want to go out there and get the three points. We’re not going to sit around, admire them and watch them play.

“It’s an important game for both us and them. We’re playing at home, so the emphasis is on us to go and win it.”

The 23-year-old believes the home fans will be integral to Villa obtaining a positive result on his first Boxing Day game in this country.

Kamara has been impressed with the club’s support since signing from Marseille in the summer and he’s looking forward to playing at Villa Park once again.

He said: “It’s a really hot atmosphere in the ground and that almost goes without saying.

“The supporters support us from the first to the 90th minute, so it’s up to us to give them something to support us for.

“I love it when we get out on the pitch and I’m listening to all the songs, hearing them cheer and sing.

"It’s up to us to put in a good performance to make sure we have the backing of the crowd.”

Villa resume the league season 12th in the table, sitting four points behind Liverpool.

Kamara says the team are looking up not down as they prepare to start the second half of the season.

“There’s no point in looking down,” he said.

“It (the gap to teams above) encourages us to put in even greater effort.

“That’s what we aspire to. You have to dream big and look to be in the top group of teams.”
