By Aston Villa FC

Aston Villa Women secured their biggest win of the season on Sunday, beating Everton 2-0 at Walton Hall Park.

Emily Gielnik and Ramona Petzelberger both scored in a span of three minutes during the first half to put Villa into the ascendency.

Everton applied pressure for a brief spell after the break but never seriously threatened Villa's lead.

The result mean we've surpassed last season's points total with eight games to spare.

Carla Ward named an unchanged XI from last weekend’s defeat to West Ham United, with Rachel Corsie missing out once again through illness.

The hosts started the game slightly quicker than Villa and made Hannah Hampton work inside the opening five minutes.

Kenza Dali, formerly of West Ham, let fly from long range but saw the effort beaten away by Villa’s number one.

Hampton was alert to deny Dali again just minutes later, flinging herself to her left to palm away the rasping drive.

Villa would get on the scoresheet first, though.

Maz Pacheco’s deep delivery from a corner was brilliantly hooked back across goal by Jill Scott, leaving Emily Gielnik with an easy tap-in at the far post.

The game continued at a frantic speed, and Alisha Lehmann missed a one-on-one minutes before Ramona Petzelberger doubled Villa’s advantage.

Our German attacker slid home inside the six-yard box to give Carla Ward’s side their first two-goal advantage in the league this season.

Villa controlled the game from there on in and managed to keep Everton at bay for large parts.

Jill Scott carried the ball superbly and dictated the tempo in the middle, while Hampton was forced to make one more key save to keep her clean sheet intact.
