Cameron Archer, Louie Barry and Trézéguet all found the net during a busy weekend of action for Aston Villa’s loanees.

Archer’s fourth goal in seven Championship games couldn’t prevent Preston North End from falling to defeat against relegation-threatened Reading at Deepdale.

Preston now sit 12th in the second tier, five points off the play-offs.

In League Two, the first goal of Barry’s professional career helped Swindon Town to a dominant 3-0 away victory at Carlisle United.

Swindon currently occupy the final play-off spot on goal difference.

Trézéguet followed up his debut assist for İstanbul Başakşehir by scoring a brace as they won 2-0 away at Rizespor to help his loan club hold on to fourth place in the Süper Lig.

Jed Steer enjoyed a successful league debut for Luton Town as he kept a clean sheet in a 2-0 win over West Bromwich Albion in the Championship, while elsewhere Jaden Philogene-Bidace played the full 90 minutes of Stoke City’s 2-2 draw with Birmingham City.

Frédéric Guilbert recorded another assist in Ligue 1 as Strasbourg drew 2-2 with Saint-Étienne, with fellow full-back Matt Targett playing the full 90 minutes of Newcastle United’s 1-1 draw at West Ham United in the Premier League.

There was plenty of action further down the English pyramid with Aaron Ramsey involved in the pick of the games – Cheltenham Town’s 5-5 draw at Wycombe Wanderers in League One.

Kaine Kesler Hayden came on for the final three minutes of MK Dons’ 2-1 win at Sunderland in the same division, while in League Two, Finn Azaz and Tyreik Wright were in action.

Azaz played the full game as Newport County drew 1-1 with Mansfield Town and Wright came on for the final nine minutes of Colchester United’s 3-0 defeat at Northampton Town.

Seb Revan and Filip Marschall both completed the full 90 minutes for their respective clubs, with Hereford edging Chester 3-2 and Gateshead beating Spennymoor Town 2-1.

Anwar El Ghazi and Conor Hourihane were unused substitutes for Everton and Sheffield United respectively, while Keinan Davis, Wesley, Caleb Chukwuemeka, Lovre Kalinić and Arjan Raikhy were not in action.
