Kortney Hause is hoping for a repeat of Aston Villa’s Old Trafford heroics when they take on Manchester United in the FA Cup third round on Monday.

The defender scored a late header to win a dramatic Premier League game there back in September, securing Villa’s first triumph at United since 2009.

And now Hause is targeting another away day win as Villa look to progress in the FA Cup.

He said: “Earlier on in the season we went there, got a good result and the team played very well.

“They’re going to have it in the back of their minds that we’ve gone there and turned them over, so they’re going to be up for it.

“We need to go there with a game plan – I’m sure the manager will have a good game plan for us – we need to execute it and try and get the win there again.”

Much has changed since Villa’s 1-0 success earlier in the season, with both clubs having hired new head coaches.

Steven Gerrard took the reins at Villa Park in November, and what Hause has seen so far gives him hope for Monday night and beyond.

“He coaches and manages the same way he played – he’s very passionate and demanding of himself and the players, which is great,” the defender said.

“It’s what we need as players, trying to improve and better ourselves every day. He’s also a really good guy to speak to, so I’ve got nothing but positive things to say about the gaffer.”

Hause added: “We’ve got a lot of good results since the gaffer came in, but he’s got that mindset of never being satisfied.

“We have to work day-in and day-out, take it one game at a time and keep working hard. Everyone is fully on board with him and his coaching staff. We’re looking forward to what 2022 brings.”
