Aston Villa is proud to Get Onside and support Women in Football.
The club showed its backing for the campaign when it launched in September, encouraging the industry to be on the side of change when it comes to gender equality in football.
To be onside means you are actively helping to bring about a permanent and positive change for women and girls in football, on or off the pitch.
Aston Villa pledged to offer paid internships to two women, one at Villa Park and one at Bodymoor Heath, as well as to run a careers fair targeting women in the community to improve the gender balance of our workforce.
Additionally, we pledged to also shine a light on the amazing women currently working at the club and Aston Villa Foundation.
The first of those taking part in the positive initiative to discuss their roles and experiences of working at the club are Angela Lewis and Kerri Welsh.
Angela plays an integral operational role in the running of our successful Academy and discusses how the role has changed during her time at Bodymoor Heath.
Here’s Angela’s story:
Kerri holds the position of Under-16s and Under-21s Head Coach in the Regional Talent Club (RTC), building upon her successful playing career.

Aston Villa Head of Human Resources Lisa Bailey said: “Aston Villa Football Club is proud to be working with Women In Football and supporting the ‘Get Onside’ initiative.
“Our colleagues are at the heart of everything we do, and this has enabled us to shine a spotlight on the valuable contribution of women working in our club.
“We are fully committed to supporting and developing talented women across all areas of our club.
“Whether it be on a matchday, in our local community or behind the scenes, each of us have our own part to play in making Aston Villa a truly great, inclusive place to work.
“Aston Villa Football Club welcomes and encourages women from all backgrounds to join our team both on and off the pitch.”
