Diego Carlos is excited for the season ahead after arriving at Bodymoor Heath for the start of pre-season this week.

The Brazilian, who joined from Sevilla last month, underwent testing alongside some of his new teammates on Monday before getting out onto the grass for the first time later in the day.

Carlos is delighted to be part of the Club and says he hopes to settle in quickly.

“I’m very excited about the pre-season,” he told VillaTV.

“The pre-season starts for me now that I’ve set foot on the Club grounds. From now, this season has already started.

“I’m really happy with my first day of training and bit-by-bit we’ll start adapting. We also have the training in Australia to be able to enter the style of training the Club expects from us.”

The 29-year-old expressed gratitude to the staff and players for welcoming him so warmly, with fellow Brazilian Douglas Luiz leading the way.

Pre-season training begins at Bodymoor Heath.

Carlos said: “I’ve had the pleasure of training with him. I was speaking to him and he was really helping me out with my communication, telling me about training and the club.

“He’s a really good friend.”

The centre-back helped his previous club to three consecutive top four finishes, and he is now fully focused on helping Villa to achieve their ambitions.

“My goals and aims are the same as the Club’s. What the club wants is what I want,” he said.

“I’m here to be able to add something to the team to be able to proceed, so their goals and aims will always be mine too.”
