After netting the winner against Leeds United on Sunday, Danny Ings says it’s important for Aston Villa to get into the habit of winning games.
The striker bagged the only goal of the game as his team followed up a 4-0 win against Walsall in their pre-season opener with another victory.
And Ings was pleased that Villa started their three-game tour of Australia on the right note.

He said: “Every single game is competitive and to get a win in the first game is key.
“We know that we need to get a lot of fitness over this period, but at the same time we want to win games and get into that habit. It was a good start today.”
Ings made an instant impact against Leeds after coming on at half-time, seeing a goal disallowed before firing a vicious shot into the side-netting.
The forward made no mistake when the chance arose to score from the penalty spot, and he was happy to be back on the scoresheet.

He said: “The work ethic was there from start to finish, we defended in numbers whenever we needed to, and I also thought we created a number of good moments.
“It’s the first game for some of the lads coming in and I thought they did very, very well. Their understanding of where to be positionally was there.
“It was nice [to score}. I should have had a couple today, but to get the winning goal feels nice.”
