Aston Villa Women continued their free-scoring start to pre-season on Saturday, beating Coventry United 5-0 at Bodymoor Heath.
Chantelle Boye-Hlorkah netted four times in the space of five minutes before setting up Emily Gielnik to round off a convincing win.
Anna Patten, Dan Turner, Olivia McLoughlin and Gielnik made their first appearances of pre-season as they featured in Carla Ward’s starting XI.
And despite what would turn out to be a comfortable afternoon’s work for Villa, they didn’t have it all their own way.
In what was an extremely quiet opening 45 minutes, Villa were limited to long-range attempts and crosses from left and right which evaded those in the middle.
Freya Gregory, in particular, saw a couple of efforts go on target without seriously troubling the United ‘keeper.
The game would spring into life before the hour-mark.
Boye-Hlorkah, positioned through the middle for large parts, showed impressive instincts to slot home from close range on four occasions within the space of five minutes.
Sandwiched in between the strikes from our fleet-footed forward were near misses by Alisha Lehmann and Gielnik.
Villa did manage to add some further gloss to the scoreline when Gielnik grabbed her first goal of pre-season.
Boye-Hlorkah, channelling her inner Mary McAteer, spun her defender on the edge of the area before squaring the ball to our Australian striker who smashed the ball into the net.
Next, Villa will embark on a warm-weather camp in Spain ahead of a fixture versus Sevilla on Friday, August 12.
