Calum Chambers admitted registering his first goal for Aston Villa in stunning fashion before celebrating in front of the travelling away support was “something I’ll never forget”.

Chambers received a lay-off from centre-back partner Tyrone Mings before bending an unstoppable right-footed effort into top corner to seal a 3-0 victory over Leeds United.

The defender’s first goal in claret and blue put the seal on a commanding performance at Elland Road after Philippe Coutinho and Matty Cash had established a two-goal lead.

And January signing Chambers said it was a moment, along with his celebrations, that will live with him forever.

“I loved it,” he told VillaTV.

“I think you could tell by the celebration, there was a lot of emotion that came out.

“It was some moment for me and to do it right in front of the fans, celebrate in front of the fans, was something I’ll never forget.

“I’m really, really happy.”

Leeds United v Aston Villa

Chambers had nothing but praise for Villa after “a great night’s work” against Leeds as they recorded a third successive victory and clean sheet.

But he quick to stress the need to stay humble, not get carried away and turn focus immediately to Sunday’s clash at West Ham United.

“We’ve built up some really good momentum and it’s about keeping that going,” he added.

“So we’ll be straight back, the recovery starts now, preparation starts now for the next game, they come round thick and fast in this league.

“It’s all about staying focused and moving straight on to the next one.”
