Aaron Danks believes the backing of Aston Villa’s supporters will be “humongous” on Sunday as he looks to help steer the club back to winning ways.
First-team coach Danks will take charge of the team for our Premier League clash against Brentford at Villa Park, supported by additional technical and coaching staff.
It comes after Thursday night’s 3-0 defeat to Fulham at Craven Cottage led to the departure of head coach Steven Gerrard.
Villa host the Bees looking to get back on track in the top flight and Danks knows the support of the claret and blue faithful is huge.
Asked how important the home fans will be this weekend, Danks replied: “Humongous.
“I think that’s the one thing everybody’s feeling at the moment; we want to do this for the fans, we want to do this for the crowd.
“I’m a local lad, I know the area well, I’ll have friends and family in all four corners of the stadium.
“They (the fans) will be huge for us, absolutely massive for us, and hopefully we can put something on the pitch they can be proud of and they can get behind on Sunday.”
“I think that’s the one thing everybody’s feeling at the moment; we want to do this for the fans, we want to do this for the crowd."

Speaking to VillaTV at Bodymoor Heath on Friday morning, Danks said his thoughts go out to Gerrard and the coaching staff who have departed the club.
With a quick turnaround now until Sunday’s encounter against Brentford, Danks also said the messages to the players around the training ground will be clear.
“It’s one of positivity, I’m looking for a response,” he added.
“We all know results and performances have not been to the levels we wanted; the players know that more than anybody.
“The message to them now is we have to move quickly, we have to reset our goals, reset our focus and get this club moving in a direction that we want it to.
“So, it’s one of positivity, one that we have to move forward.”
