Tash Harding says she feels ‘as fresh as ever’ after scoring her first goal for Aston Villa on Wednesday.

The Wales international was handed her first start against Everton at Walton Hall Park, having joined Villa from Reading in the summer.

And the forward finished expertly when through on goal to open her account.

“There are some positives,” Harding said of the general performance.

“We’re a bit disappointed to concede in transition, I feel the game should have been dead and buried in the first half.”

As has been the case ever since our win over Leicester City in September, Villa have created chances aplenty but converted very little.

Harding, however, is remaining upbeat about the team’s fortunes over the course of the whole season.

“We’re getting in positions, it’s just about being clinical when you are in those positions,” she admitted.

“The girls will be hard on themselves because they’re their own worst critics but it’s a long season and we’ve just got to keep building on the positives.”

Harding has battled fitness and Covid issues since joining the club, but feels Wednesday’s efforts were a sign of things to come.

“I’ve had to be patient, these girls make up a great team.”

“The staff have given me some faith and confidence tonight. I was just happy to contribute for the girls and get a point.”

“I was unfortunate to miss a few games, but it’s about being patient and I feel as fresh as ever. I feel really sharp.”
