Lucas Digne has returned to full training to hand Aston Villa a big boost ahead of Saturday’s trip to Newcastle United.

The France international left-back has missed the last five Premier League matches due to a heel injury.

But Digne trained with his team-mates this week and is back in the fold for this weekend’s trip to St James’ Park.

First-team coach Aaron Danks also had positive news on the recovery of Boubacar Kamara, although the clash against the Magpies comes too soon for the midfielder.

“It’s mostly positives, really,” Danks told the media at Friday’s pre-match press conference.

“Lucas Digne has done a full week of training back in with the group, that’s fantastic, so we welcome him back into the squad.

“Boubacar Kamara is much closer, he hasn’t trained with the team yet but he’s back out on the grass and at the back end of his rehabilitation.

“After that, it’s very much like we were last week, one or two little knocks and niggles that we’re going to have to manage through today but, on the whole, really positive.”
