Emiliano Martínez has been nominated for the Premier League’s Save of the Month award for August.

Aston Villa’s No.1 has been recognised for a stunning stop he made to deny Crystal Palace’s Jordan Ayew at Selhurst Park.

With the game locked at 1-1 minutes before half-time, the Argentinian got down quickly to thwart the striker’s low drive as he lurked unmarked at the back post.

Martínez faces competition from Leeds United’s Illan Meslier, Wolves’ Jose Sa, Newcastle’s Nick Pope, Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris, Brentford’s David Raya, Leicester City’s Danny Ward and Nottingham Forest’s Dean Henderson for the award.
