Aston Villa Women are pleased to announce the appointment of Leanne Hall as Assistant Manager ahead of the 2023/24 season.

Hall moves to Villa having enjoyed a playing career that involved 24 senior England caps.

The 43-year-old former goalkeeper has since moved into coaching and spent the past five years with Arsenal.

Leanne will start working alongside Carla Ward with immediate effect.

"From initial conversations, I felt that the welcoming and inclusive environment at Aston Villa is one where I can thrive and continue my coaching journey," said Hall.

"Villa mirrors my passion for development and progression, and its culture shines through all aspects of the club."

"I'm looking forward to playing a part in our exciting project over the coming seasons."

Carla Ward said: "Leanne is someone I've known for many years, and someone I leaned on during the early stages of my coaching career."

"She’s a highly skilled, experienced and respected coach within the women’s game who will add a lot of value to our project."

"I’m delighted to have secured her services and look forward to her integrating herself into the team."

Head of Women's Football, Lee Billiard said: "Leanne has experience of winning trophies at the highest level. Those experiences match our vision and the ongoing project we have in place at Aston Villa."

With the appointment of Hall, the club can confirm Sam Rose has departed his coaching role to seek new opportunities.

We would like to thank Sam for his contribution at Aston Villa and wish him the very best for the future.
