England will play in a first-ever final at the FIFA Women's World Cup after beating Australia 3-1 on Wednesday afternoon.

Rachel Daly featured as the Lionesses edged past the Matildas in the co-hosts own backyard.

Manchester United's Ella Toone put England ahead before Chelsea's Sam Kerr equalised brilliantly.

Manchester City's Lauren Hemp scored England's second just 20 minutes from time, before Arsenal's Alessia Russo wrapped up the victory during the closing stages.

Sarina Wiegman's team will play Spain on Sunday for World Cup glory.

The game was action-packed from the first whistle, and West Ham United's Mackenzie Arnold did well to save from Bayern Munich's Georgia Stanway early on.

England were patient in their attempts to disarm their Australian counterparts and were rewarded 10 minutes before the break.

Toone ran onto a pullback on the left-hand side of the area and unleashed a pile-driver into the top corner to give England the lead.

The advantage belonged to the Lionesses but it would be taken away from them on 63 minutes when Kerr scored an even more impressive strike from long-range.

But England would take control of proceedings from there on in, first through Hemp and then through Russo.

Spain are all that stand in the way of England and World Cup glory.
