Unai Emery has offered an injury update ahead of Sunday’s first home match of the season against Everton.
Villa tackle the Toffees on home soil aiming to get off the mark in 2023/24 following an opening-day defeat at Newcastle United last weekend.
The Villans lost Tyrone Mings to a significant knee injury at St. James’ Park, just days after Emi Buendía was also ruled out for the long-term.
Jhon Durán and Bertrand Traoré have returned to training this week, while Álex Moreno is closing in on his comeback but this weekend’s fixture at Villa Park comes too soon for him.

Speaking at Friday’s pre-match media conference, head coach Emery said: “We have two long-term injuries with Emi Buendía and Tyrone Mings
“They had surgery this week and now is the moment to be with their families, and start slowly working a little bit.
“But, of course, it’s a long time to come back with us.
“And then we have to continue, we are trying to carry on in our way.
“We are recovering some players – Bertrand Traoré and Jhon Durán started training with us this week.
“Álex Moreno is close to being back with us.
“Jacob Ramsey is still some weeks from coming back to us.
“But we are ready to play on Sunday and trying to have a good impact at home in the first match (of the season) with our supporters.”
