Aston Villa Women lost 2-1 to Southampton at Bodymoor Heath on Saturday afternoon.

In what was the first of five pre-season fixtures for Carla Ward's side, minutes were shared out amongst first-team players and a host of youngsters at our training ground.

Lucy Parker marked her first outing as a Villa player with a headed goal inside the opening four minutes but were pegged back before half-time.

Former Villa player Katie Wilkinson found the net on 32 minutes before Lucia Kendell powered in a long-range effort to give the Barclays Women's Championship an unsurmountable lead just shy of the hour mark.
