Danny Ings was proud of the fight shown by Aston Villa after they came from behind to draw with Wolves in the Premier League on Wednesday night.
The striker climbed off the bench and made a telling contribution with 12 minutes remaining to cancel out Daniel Podence’s first-half opener.
Things could have been even better for Villa had Leon Bailey applied the finishing touches to a superb pass from Ings in stoppage time, but the latter wasn’t disheartened when he spoke to VillaTV.

“We had an amazing result at the weekend and sometimes following that up can be very, very difficult,” Ings said.
“They really wanted the points, they worked really hard and made it difficult for us. It was the reaction, for me, that shows how far we’ve come as a team.
“We got back in the game and we nearly won it at the end. There are a lot of positives tonight.”
Ings’ cool finish was his seventh goal of the season, keeping him top of the club’s scoring charts this term.

The 30-year-old aims to keep making positive contributions, whether he’s starting games or coming off the bench.
He said: “It’s not just the starting XI that impact the game, the subs do as well.
“At the weekend, I thought our subs came on and helped to kill the game off. Tonight, it was a different reaction. We had to get back in the game and we showed great character.
“It’s always nice to score in front of the Holte End. For me, it’s about helping the team, whether I start or come on from the bench.
“I always give my all for the team and luckily it paid off tonight.”
