Unai Emery expects to have Ollie Watkins fit and ready to go for Saturday’s Premier League game against Southampton on Saturday.

The head coach offered injury updates at his pre-match press conference on Thursday afternoon, confirming that the striker is training well.

Emery also updated the media on a number of other Villans.

The Aston Villa squad prepare for Saturday's game against Southampton.

“Ludwig Augustinsson is ready, Lucas Digne is out, Matty Cash is ok as well and Ollie Watkins is training normally yesterday and today. He will be ready for Saturday,” Emery said.

“Diego Carlos is still working alone but he is on the pitch. He’s progressing very well.

“John McGinn still has one or two weeks more until he starts training with us. I think he will be with us for the next match against Leicester.

“Everyone is good; they are training good and ready to play on Saturday.”

Danny Ings.

While Watkins is ready to play his part, fellow striker Danny Ings is set to seal a move away from the club.

Emery thanked him for his contribution and confirmed that the forward is close to signing for West Ham United.

The head coach said: “He will sign with West Ham. His commitment was amazing here, with his teammates and he helped to better our performance.

“I decided to let him go, because I think for him it was a very good offer, for the club as well.”
