Aston Villa Women are pleased to announce that the Club has decided to take up its option to extend manager Carla Ward’s contract to the end of the 2023/24 season.
Carla, 39, joined the club ahead of the 2021/22 season and immediately led Villa to an improved ninth-place finish in the Barclays WSL.
That progression has continued into the current campaign, with the team recording their fifth league win of the season last Saturday with a 2-1 home win over Tottenham Hotspur.
Villa also secured their place in the quarter-finals of this season's FA Women's Continental League Cup following a strong set of results in the group stages.

Head of Women's Football, Lee Billiard, said: "This is terrific news for Carla and the Club. We have seen significant improvement in the team under her leadership, both individually and collectively, and this contract extension will allow her to continue progressing and building on our strategy to try to develop young players while putting Aston Villa at the heart of the women’s game in England at this exciting time.”
Congratulations, Carla!
