Ollie Watkins is eager to continue on the goal trail over Aston Villa’s remaining 12 games of the season.

Watkins hit the net for the sixth time in seven games in Sunday’s 1-1 draw against West Ham United at London Stadium.

It takes the striker’s tally to 10 in all competitions so far this season, one behind his total for last term and six adrift of his 16 goals in 2020/21.

And Watkins is keen to continue his momentum in the final third of the campaign.

“It’s nice as a striker to score goals, that’s what you want to do at the end of the day,” he said after netting against the Hammers.

“I’ve been working hard to do that; I always work hard.

“I’m looking forward to these last 12 games to keep scoring and help the team.”

Watkins nodded home a sumptuous cross from left-back Álex Moreno to head Villa into the lead against West Ham.

And he had plenty of praise for the inch-perfect delivery from the Spaniard, who registered his second assist since joining the club in January.

“I was saying to Álex, sometimes take a touch and look for me in the box early,” added Watkins.

“He’s done that and it’s nice to score again.

“It was an unbelievable ball from him.”
