Aston Villa are taking part in the Hong Kong Soccer Sevens tournament this weekend.

A team made up of Under-21 and Under-18 players will represent Villa as the club makes its first appearance in the competition since 2019.

Villa are the most successful side in Hong Kong Soccer Sevens history since it began in 1999, having won the tournament on six occasions: 2002, 2004, 2007, 2008, 2010 and 2016.

The tournament is returning this year following a four-year absence enforced by the COVID pandemic.

If Villa secure a top two finish in their group, they will advance to the Cup quarter-finals. If they finish third or fourth, they will enter the Plate quarter-finals.

The semi-finals and final will follow later on Sunday.

Each game is made up of two halves of seven minutes before the quarter-finals, semis and the final itself increase to ten minutes per half.
