Aston Villa is saddened to learn of the passing of former player Kenny Fencott, who has died at the age of 79.
The thoughts of everyone at the club are with Kenny’s family and friends at this difficult time.
Kenny, who joined Villa as an amateur in 1959, played five first-team games in the early 1960s.
He made his debut in a 1-1 draw against Bolton Wanderers at Burnden Park in November 1961 and the Walsall-born winger also helped holders Villa to a second League Cup final the following season, playing against Preston North End in the fourth round and Sunderland in the semi-final.
His other two appearances came in consecutive home games in February 1964, a 2-2 draw against Liverpool and a 1-0 win over West Bromwich Albion.
After being released at the end of that season, he spent three years with Lincoln City, scoring 13 goals in 76 league appearances for the Imps. He later played non-league football for Tamworth.
Rest in Peace, Kenny.
