Aston Villa Women won a third consecutive game in dramatic fashion on Sunday, beating West Ham United 3-2 at Chigwell Construction Stadium.

Villa fell behind in the first half when Viviane Asseyi converted from the penalty spot but responded immediately through Anna Patten.

Adriana Leon put the visitors ahead with her first goal for the club before Lisa Evans equalised spectacularly with 10 minutes remaining.

But there was still time for Rachel Daly to score a sublime, left-footed half-volley on 92 minutes to give Villa all three points.

Carla Ward named an unchanged side from the one that started last weekend’s 2-0 win at Bristol City.

In fact, the only alteration from the entire squad that faced the Robins was the addition of Simone Magill to the bench.

The Northern Ireland recovered from a quad injury to be named amongst the substitutes in Dagenham.

The hosts got off to the better start as they attacked with pace and purpose early on.

Riko Ueki dragged a shot wide from the edge of the area not long after a pair of crosses travelled dangerously close to Daphne van Domselaar’s goal.

van Domselaar was called into action soon after, though.

The Dutch international stuck out a left leg to deny a goal-bound header from Ueki.

Our ‘keeper would be helpless minutes after as West Ham drew first blood.

Full-back Kirsty Smith was felled inside the area, and Asseyi stepped up to dispatch the spot-kick with ease.

But Villa were back on level terms within five minutes as Patten headed in her first goal in almost a year after Rachel Daly had flicked on a Kenza Dali corner.

A newfound belief then urged Villa forward, as Adriana Leon forced a point-blank save from Mackenzie Arnold.

Villa’s momentum carried into the start of the second half, and Leon edged us in front with a sweet strike from inside the area.

The control exhibited by Villa continued for most of the second half, and Ward even brought on Jordan Nobbs and Ebony Salmon in an attempt to take the game away from the hosts.

But West Ham weren’t deterred and they levelled the scores themselves in spectacular fashion.

Lisa Evans, on as a second-half substitute, unleashed a perfect half-volley that flew into the top corner with 10 minutes remaining.

And just when Villa looked like they would have to be content with a draw, Rachel Daly smacked home a 92nd-minute winner to keep Villa's winning run going.
